All Heads of the Educational Institutions in the district are requested to send monthly report on VIMUKTI activities to vimukti.ker@nic.in before 7th of every month. Minutes of the meeting held on 12.09.2012 is available as Menu item on Home Page. There is no safe level of exposure to second hand tobacco smoke. Globally about one third of adults are regularly exposed to second hand smoking. Passive smoking is more dangerous.

Drugs

Drug use only became wide spread since the early 1960s. Unlike the people who drinks and/or smokes, the drug users are unwilling to admit that they use drugs for fear of being prosecuted.

VIMUKTI-Seminar on Substance Abuse & Cancer was held on 28/12/2012 at SDV Grounds. The seminar was inaugurated by Sh.K P Thampi, ADM & Deputy Collector(General), Alappuzha. The Classes were lead by the famous oncologist Dr.V P Gangadharan, Lakeshore Hospital. DMO(Homoeo), Smt.Sulha Beevi presided over the function and the welcome speech was delivered by Dr.R S Nisha, Addl.Professor(Community Medicine), Govt.TDMC,Alappuzha. Mrs.Parvathi Devi.P, District Informatics Officer and Mr.Arun, Asst.Information Offcier felicitated the inaugural session and Prof.Vijayan Nair, Convener, Publicity gave vote of thanks. Teachers from schools of Alappuzha, Student counsellors, Medical Students and citizens attended the seminar.

VIMUKTI Review Meeting of School counsellors & School JPHNs held on 29/10/2012 at Collectorate Conference Hall

The District Collector Sh.P Venugopal IAS reviewed the progress of implementation of Vimukti in a meeting held in Collectorate and directed to intensify the activities. He had requested the heads of all the educational institutions to integrate all related activities to meet the common objective and report the activities to the core committee by e-mail to vimukti.ker@nic.in.

The District Collector directed all stake holding departments to actively involve in the VIMUKTI Activities and to send monthly report to vimukti.ker@nic.in

The District Collector requests all the members of the public to involve and cooperate in VIMUKTI activities. He had requested to give information on sale of any prohibited tobacco/nicotine products / drugs in the district. Citizens can drop their complaints in the complaint box placed in Collectorate, Alappuzha.

Individuals and Organizations who are willing to work for VIMUKTI are requested to register with VIMUKTI by sending email to vimukti.ker@nic.in.
